North American Nokia N79 stops by the FCC

by Nick Marshall

Earlier this morning on the FCC website, a North American 3G-enabled version of the N79 appeared.  The  N79 is the latest in the Nseries range and combines a customizable design with cutting-edge technology in a compact package.  With the success of the N72 and N73, Nokia added Xpress-on smart covers in five colors and packed 3 of these covers with the N79 retail packaging.  Packing the infamous 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and video light capture, the device continued to set the bar for the competition.  The N79 also added a three month integrated license for Nokia Maps which uses the built-in A-GPS technology to deliver over 15 million points of interest and turn-by-turn navigation for both walking and driving.  A North American N79 is a welcomed treat for the holidays and we can only hope that a release date is not far off, but we’ll still keep our fingers crossed on this one.
