Start your engines, At&t BlackBerry Bold is now online

article Nick Marshall

We all want it and D-day is upon us with the imminent launch of the At&t BlackBerry Bold.  For a penny shy of $400 before $100 Mail-In Rebate, you can walk into your local At&t Wireless Store and take home what is being described as the ‘the best BlackBerry yet’.  As usual you will need to pay the $36 activation fee or $18 upgrade fee and if you opt for an online purchase shipping is free.  In case you are looking for the deal of the day on the BlackBerry Bold you might want to check WireFly.com which is selling the device for $199.99 after Mail-In Rebate.

Here’s a quick little roundup of how the BlackBerry Bold reviews are shaping up:

CrunchGear:

The Bold is unequivocally the best piece of hardware that RIM has ever put out. The Curve and Pearl series drew the attention of the masses while the 8800 series was the device of choice for the suits, but the Bold clearly appeals to both.

Gizmodo:

Like I said, taken out of context of the earlier Bold review, this doesn’t sound so excellent. But really, the Bold is a great phone. AT&T just didn’t improve it much, and it needs a few tune-ups in user friendliness: Most importantly, a single browser that seamlessly handles Wi-Fi and 3G, and an app store, since those are the two things people will be using the most outside of email (the internet and apps). A decent desktop media manager wouldn’t hurt either. But it’s still the best BlackBerry you can buy. For now, anyway.

In case you were thinking about picking up the BlackBerry Bold from At&t for a No Commitment Price, you might want to think again.  After logging into At&t and seeing that we were not eligible for an upgrade until 07/2009, I decided to check the pricing options for the Bold (see below).
