Verizon Wireless HTC Touch Pro (VX6850) November 24th Release Date

by Nick Marshall

The suspense is over as Verizon Wireless will become the 3rd US Carrier to launch the highly coveted HTC Touch Pro on November 24th via telesales.  The big kicker here is that the 2-year price will be $419.99 before a $70 Mail-In Rebate which brings the final price tag to $350.  Nationwide availability for the VX6850 will kick off December 1st, but with a Storm coming sometime in November it will be interesting to see how Big Red’s customers feel about buying into one of the highest priced devices on their network.

I bought the TouchPro today, I like the device, no issues as of the first day anyway, seems to be easy to navigate through, easy web access, text size is good, no complaints from me “Yet”

This has got to be the most user unfriendly phone I have ever had the displeasure of using. Thankfully I did not pay $400 for it, your tax dollars did. I find it annoying to hear it ring only twice before a call gets sent to voicemail or it hangs up the call I’m on because my cheek made contact with the “End Call” button on the touch screen. There is also a sometimes prolonged delay between when I push a button and when the phone actually responds. It’s funny sometimes because as I am trying to navigate the techno filled cube and the delay occurs; all of a sudden someone will be yelling at me, “Who there?!” because the phone actually dialed someone’s number. DOH!

Have had the opportunity to experience this new phone for about a week. Can honestly say that I was a little apprehensive and predisposed to negetive thoughts about the device because I became complacid with the 6800. Be careful about what you get used to because I am thankful for my new phone. I have had about all the blackberries and several other new smart phones. This new phone is the best phone I have ever had…so far. Check out my blog next month. Peace!!!
