T-mobile G1 users will be delighted to know that earlier today Opera Mini 4.2 beta is now available for download in the Android Marketplace. This is the same beta that was released just two weeks ago for Java phones and now the first official 3rd party web browser for Android. All the usual suspects are in tote: zooming, saving, bookmarking and searching for in-line text as well as syncing via Opera Link and swapping skins.

Unfortunately video playback is still non-existent in this build even with Opera Mini 4.2 beta since the T-mobile G1 does not support video playback. However, Opera said that they will address this issue when the mobile browser comes out of beta so the possibility of video playback still exists. At this time Opera has not announced plans to release their more robust browser, Opera Mobile, for Android, but a successful deployment of this beta browser could leverage a subsequent launch.
