It seems the Nokia N97 announced today has already been photographed next to none other than the Apple iPhone. While the N97 offers the full QWERTY physical keypad, the exterior touchscreen will still subject the device to side-by-side comparisons. Granted, the N97 does offer a 3.5 inch display offering a higher resolution (640 x 360 pixels) than the iPhone, it seems there is no escaping Apple’s presence.

The N97 will become the second phone to feature a touchscreen display, following the path lead by the 5800 XpressMusic. It will run Nokia’s new S60 5th Edition OS, feature an illustrious 5-megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Having owned by the E71 and the E90 we are pleasantly thrilled that a N series device will finally feature a fully capable landscape QWERTY keyboard and our early prediction is this could be the device that becomes Nokia’s ‘game changer’.

While we add ourselves to the list of gadget lovers lining up for a N97 review unit, go ahead and take a moment and feast your eyes on the first iPhone vs N97 live shots.
