Daily Rumor Wrap Up: Walmart $99 iPhone 3G, Bell BlackBerry Storm Delays, iPhone Indonesia Release Date

It’s been a busy Thursday as rumors have started to flood the Internet covering everything from Walmart selling a $99 iPhone 3G to Indonesia launching the iPhone 3G in late January or early February.  First up on the chopping block is BGR’s prediction that Walmart will begin selling its very own 4GB iPhone 3G for $99 with 2-year service agreements.  We’ve been expecting the release of the iPhone 3G at Walmart for some time, but a custom size and a $99 price tag might be too good to pass up for the masses.

Next up on the rumor mill is the mythical Bell BlackBerry Storm that we thought was launching December 15th.  Apparently Bell employees have been told that they need to take down all point of purchase displays for the Storm and are being advised to expect a delay in Storm shipments.  No exact details on what type of delay this might be, but the insider did mention that Bell may not see the Storm until after the Christmas rush, bummer.  In addition to the rumored delays, employees have been told to stop taking names for ‘waiting lists’ since in the near future they may need to start contacting current ‘wait list’ clients to offer them new solutions.  At the moment this does not look like a serious issue with the Canadian BlackBerry Storm, but if we see a delay from Telus as well, we might be onto something.

The last rumor to wrap up this Thursday is the iPhone 3G launch for Indonesia.  An inside over at 3GWeek was able to confirm that long awaited iPhone 3G will be available in Indonesia by the end of January or early February 2009.  This would make Indonesia the third in the South East Asia region to launch the device (after Signapore and Phillipines).  Since Telkomsel is the largest GSM operator in the country, it is expected that the iPhone 3G would launch on its network with over 60 million subscribers.  The inside source also said that a monthly plan is currently being negotiated and this will be the first phone in Indonesia to be offered with a monthly plan since most phones in Indonesia are sold without contracts unlocked.

So there you have it, the daily rumor wrap up.  As usual take this information with a grain of salt, but if you have any insider information feel free to submit a tip or drop a comment below so we can add it to the boiling pot.
