iphone walmart launch doc 300x277 Walmart launching the iPhone Dec 28th for $197 and $297So long rumors, the $99 iPhone predicted to be launched in a 4GB capacity can now be dismissed.  Earlier today a tipster over at Engadget leaked the Walmart Memo which outlines the iPhone Pilot Launch.  Apparently prior to December 28th, 488 stores will be selected to sell 5 phones to associates only to ‘ensure all of the systems are working properly’.  After the pilot program concludes a national launch of the iPhone across all Walmart stores will begin at 9:00AM Dec. 28th when the 8GB iPhone 3G will be sold for $197 and the 16GB iPhone 3G for $297 on 2-year contracts.  As usual Walmart employees get their employee discount of 15% off At&t service through walmartbenefits.com and a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Apple is in effect until launch day.
