The wireless asset swap between At&t and Verizon Wireless is now official after receiving regulatory approval from the FCC and Department of Justice on December 18th. Under the agreement, At&t acquires some former Rural Cellular Corporation properties that were previously owned by Verizon Wireless in New York, Vermont, Washington and Kentucky. On the other end, Verizon Wireless acquired some former Dobson Communication Corporation properties in Kentucky and 10 MHz of PCS spectrum in a number of areas along with additional cash consideration from At&t. The world of At&t and the iPhone 3G will now be available to rural areas in the states mentioned above, along with At&t’s LaptopConnect Card and the At&t exclusive BlackBerry Bold.
