While we wait for the impending release of the Palm Pre later this summer, Palm users will have one more stop in the Palm lineage, the Treo Pro. The Sprint Treo Pro is a very familiar device if you have been following the GSM carrier releases in Europe in 2008, with the main difference being the CDMA radio with EVDO Rev. A. Starting on March 15th Sprint users will be able to purchase the Treo Pro for $199 with 2-year service agreement (after a $100 instant rebate and $100 mail in rebate), but like the Samsung Instinct you will be required to have an Everything Plan with data or a $30 per month or higher data add-on. For those of you still living on the Sprint Network with your SERO plans this might be about the time to join the rest of us and simply use a corporate discount.
For recap purposes the Treo Pro runs off of Windows Mobile 6.1, it offers EVDO Rev. A 3G connectivity, WiFi, GPS and a very familiar keyboard for those of you who have used a Treo in the past 8 years. As far as Sprint’s content services, Sprint TV, Sprint Music, Pocket Express and Sprint IM (Yahoo/AIM/MSN) are all featured on the Treo Pro in an effort to fully maximize Sprint’s Everything Plans. Following the March 15th launch of the Treo Pro across sprint.com, Sprint retail stores and via telesales, the device will become available through the Palm Store (palm.com/store) and Palm’s B2B sales organization on March 16th.
