Palm Pre 1.0.2 software update now available

Just three days following launch, the Sprint Palm Pre is already seeing signs of solid device support.  Yesterday on the Palm website a support article (ID: 50607) was released outlining the changes to the Pre in the 1.0.2 OTA (over the air) update coming to your smartphone.  Now two things you might not know about your Palm Pre and the update process is that your device automatically checks for new system updates every 7 days and you can manually check at any time by opening ‘Updates’.  Second, the system updates for the WebOS on your Palm Pre do not affect your data in any way so there is no need to backup, simply let the process run its course.

So what is in store in the 1.0.2 software update? First there is a new clock application that allows you to use your phone as an alarm clock, create and save multiple alarms, customize sounds for individual alarms, view a full-screen time display and switch the time display between analog and digital.  Next up is an increased speed of return to capture mode when taking successive photos from the Camera application.  Last to the update are numerous bug fixes for Email, Calendar, and other applications.  If you want more information on how the update process works including the download, installation, re validation simply click here.
