The volume of iPhones in the consumer audience continues to be the bread and butter for At&t and Apple, but the business market has yet to announce formal adoption either by developers or by key enterprise purchases.  When it comes to the workforce BlackBerry is king, but according to Pyxis Mobile, a business software developer, the iPhone could be the future.

This feeling of openness to the iPhone in a business environment was echoed by Coca Cola Chief Information Officer Esat Sezer who was recently quoted as saying, “Today we partnered with RIM, but tomorrow it could be Apple or the Google Android program.”  At WWDC 2009 it was clear that Apple wants to be considered a serious competitor for business solutions by adding more secure communications and the ability to disable lost or stolen phones remotely.

Whether Apple can pose a legitimate threat to RIM’s reign as king remains to be seen, but the 3.9 million business users with the iPhone will surely increase rapidly with the iPhone 3G S launch next Friday.
