It seemed like the endless bashing of T-mobile’s late release of a 3G network in the US was never going to stop. Now that the carrier has rolled out 3G services is dozens of markets and discontent has come to a standstill it is time to put the accomplishment into perspective. According to a study by In-Stat, only 11 percent of all wireless users are on 3G networks. Here in the US we have 4 major wireless carriers to choose from and all deliver 3G and one, Sprint, even delivering 4G via WiMax.
As GSM competitors race to launch their 4G LTE networks, it is hard for us to accept that broadband mobile speeds are a luxury. As of today there are only nine WiMax network deployed worldwide so in case you were starting to think that 2G networks were almost extinct, this is anything but the case.
