LG announced the upcoming GM730 touchscreen smartphone this morning along with a formal announcement that they would be launching an App Store similar to Apple, Google, Palm and BlackBerry. The LG-GM730 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone feature a 5-megapixel camera and 16GB of internal storage. It features MP3 playback, a variety of games, GPS, FM receivers, and runs the company’s S Class UI.
The goal of the S Class UI is to reduce the number of clicks it takes to perform traditional functions on your WM device. One of the big selling points for LG is that the GM-730 has native cut, copy and paste like all Windows Mobile devices, but the manufacturer felt the need to emphasize the capability in their press release. Another bold move was that LG announced 1,400 new applications will be available in their application store when it launches later this summer.
It’s hard to tell how well the LG GM-730 will fair against the other smartphone rivals now that Samsung has a handful of equally impressive devices. If you must have an ultra thin full touchscreen smartphone you should note that the LG GM-730 is 11.9mm thick or .468 inches (the iPhone 3G S is .48 inches or 12.3mm)
