How to enabled tethering on the iPhone 3G on O2 UK

If waiting for your carrier to enable iPhone tethering pricing and availability is not on your to do list and you operate on O2’s network in the UK, read on.  According to a tutorial posted on Richard Lai’s Xanga page, he was able to enable tethering on his iPhone 3G for O2 Uk without jailbreaking his phone in a few easy steps.  Simply direct your iPhone to http://help.benm.at/ and select your country and carrier from the menu to install the correct profile.  With the new profile installed, you can now turn on tethering in Settings -> General -> Network -> Internet Tethering.  Then it’s simply a matter of plugging in the iPhone and your PC/Mac should automatically pop up with a  message.  At this point you’ll then be led to Network Preferences and all you need to do is click on “Apply” and you’re set.
