Optus announces $9.99 fee for iPhone 3G S tethering

Australian wireless carrier Optus announced that they would be supporting the iPhone tethering feature added in the OS 3.0 update Wednesday.  For just $9.99 Optus customers can add the feature to any of the available data packages to enable phone as modem use. Customers will have to wait until June 22 before they can add the feature, but at a $9.99 price point how could they resist?

Meanwhile in the US, At&t has not released phone as modem pricing, but we will have an official release of the iPhone 3G S in less than 24 hours.  Unfortunately for Optus customers no pricing information for the iPhone 3G S has been announced and they will have to wait until June 26 for their launch day.  According to inside sources, Optus will be announcing their iPhone 3G S pricing structure in a press event Monday.
