Apple disables Palm Pre iTunes Syncing: don't upgrade iTunes

The end of seamless iTunes syncing has come to the Palm Pre quite a bit earlier than we expected.  According to InformationWeek, Apple has managed to kill the Pre’s ability to sync with iTunes 8.2.1 leaving Palm Pre owners with two alternative solutions: keep your existing version of iTunes or transfer music via USB.  There is a third option currently being explored by Palm which would require a third-party software vendor to fill the gap, but since Palm listed a key feature of the Pre as iTunes syncing, a replacement would do little to satisfy early adopters. Below is the official word from Palm:

Palm spokesperson Lynn Fox said in response to Apple’s warning. “However, people will have options. They can stay with the iTunes version that works to sync their music on their Pre, they can transfer the music via USB, and there are other third-party applications we could consider.”
