Verizon BlackBerry Storm drops to $50 as Storm 2 launch approaches

As we approach the launch of the BlackBerry Storm 2, Verizon is beginning the fire sale of the original storm by slashing the price down to $50.  This marks an even lower price point than we saw back in July when the Storm was being sold for $99 to compete with 8GB iPhone 3G.  The Storm 2 prototype units have found their way to several websites including BGR and the initial feedback has been nothing short of remarkable.  With all the buzz building for the Storm 2 you have to wonder whether or not Verizon will find the volume of shoppers it was hoping to attract with a $50 Storm.  In the meantime I think we’d all agree that the BlackBerry Tour is the device to pickup on Verizon while a release date is finalize for the Storm 2.
