It seems that Nokia is still hard at work with their 8800 series of luxury phones or at least that’s what the latest leaked video would suggest. Codenamed Nokia Erdos, the 8800 is a Symbian S60-powered handset made from a single piece of stainless steal with a piece of glass covering the display, effectively hiding it when the phone is in standby and becoming transparent when the screen is on. If that wasn’t enough for you, the phone also has a rising keypad which matches the display’s level when you slide it open.
The other bells and whistles on the Nokia 8800 include a 2.4-inch OLED display running at 320 x 240 pixels and 16 million colors, Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) and dual-band WCDMA, WiFi, A-GPS, Stereo Bluetooth, 5-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera with autofocus / dual LED flash / video recording and 8GB of internal memory. The phone measures 116.9 x 50.3 x 15mm and will be released this October. At this point no word on pricing is available, but you can expect the materials to fetch a premium price tag.
