Verizon Wireless announces the Windows Mobile 6.5 HTC Imagio (Whitestone)

The Verizon Wireless HTC Imagio is now official, or as those keen to smartphone rumors recall, the HTC Whitestone.  In a press event this morning Verizon confirmed that the HTC Imagio is infact real and that it will feature Windows Mobile 6.5 when it is released on October 6 online and October 20 in stores.  The Imagio will set you back $199.99 on a 2-year service agreement after a $100 MIR.  It is also important to note that the HTC Imagio will be the first Verizon smartphone to offer full V Cast Mobile TV service.

So what will $199.99 get you?  A 3.6-WVGA touchscreen, domestic/international 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7600 processor, 5-megapixel camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD expansion slot and a 1500 mAh battery.  If you are worried about losing the TouchFLO 3D interface you’ve become familiar with on the HTC Touch Pro do not fear.  TouchFLO 3D and the touch-sensitive zoom bar seen on the Touch Pro2 have both been included.
