A hot battery is a bad sign for your cell phone especially since it probably resides in your pocket for a greater portion of the day. According to a T-mobile G1 owner over at AndroidWorld, their G1’s battery is overheating to the point that the back casing on the device is melting. They’ve gone ahead and supplied the supporting images and done their part to let the problem be known, but honestly this is the first we’ve heard of the issue. Having experienced a similar issue on an iPhone or two I can relate to what this G1 user is going through, but unfortunately it will take a lot more users reporting this issue before T-mobile or HTC takes notice. Before anyone goes jumping the gun and starts assuming that a third party replacement battery might be the culprit, go ahead and head over to AndroidWorld for the full photo gallery.
