Verizon Wireless and Google plan to co-develop several Android-based devices

They say good things come to those who wait and for Verizon’s sake we hope that old saying holds true as today they’ve announced formal plans to co-develop several Android-based devices with Google.  Besides the Motorola Droid (Sholes) which we’ve confirmed dozens of times, Verizon claims that they will release a family of phones from various manufacturers.  One interesting piece of information is that the press release makes references to Verizon releasing ‘multiple handsets’ in the next few weeks running Android.  Now that sounds exciting anyone want to throw out some guesses for which manufacturers will be following MOTO on Big Red?

Update: Verizon is open to offer Android on feature phones, pdas, and netbooks.  Eric Schmidt (Google) confirmed that Android currently offers 10k applications.  You can find out more from the webcast here
