Fresh from CTIA Wireless 2009, Verizon has issued a press release detailing the top mobile video game downloads for the summer of 2009, June through September. Topping the list was the classic Tetris, followed by Bejeweled, Guitar Hero World Tour, Pac-Man, Scrabble, World Series of Poker Pro, Where’s Waldo?, The Oregon Trail and Monopoly Here & Now. No details were revealed on the profits Verizon is actually taking in from their mobile downloads, but the carrier did announce three new titles coming soon: Dream Chronicles, Miss Drama Queen and PlayMaker Mobile which connects Verizon customers directly to Sports Stars.

Interesting note on the games. Then there is playmaker mobile. I cannot see myself paying $5/month for this when I get twitter for free. I heard from the grape vine that this is similar to the major flop of Melo Mobile (carmello anthony) via konami. It was the worst application and rip off. I wonder who developed this and which other carriers and athletes will hop in. Funny thing
If you look on the verizon site, the publisher is konami. We were approached by them and decided to pass as the content delivery bylaws were not there. You are right as you look at the application, it really is poorly designed and the subscription engine is tough to cancel. Watchout subscribers.
