This morning and last evening were filled with quite a bit of announcements and even some new rumors on upcoming devices. Instead of the normal prelude we will get straight into the details starting with the Palm Pre. Apparently Palm Pre owners who have been enjoying the App Store have reached a “Sorry, Not Enough Memory” error and Precentral has released several fixes for this issue.
The BlackBerry Storm 2 launching on Vodafone has been spotted once again and this time we have seen the promotion material in a retail outlet. A tipster over at CrackBerry decided to post an image of the in-store display at a Car Phone warehouse location.
Samsung made an announcement at the ITU Telecom World Conference in Geneva that they would be supporting the next-gen Mobile WiMAX Release 2 based on IEEE 802.16m. According to Samsung, IEEE 802.16m provides four times faster data speed and improved spectral efficiency as compared to the Mobile WiMAX Release 1 based on IEEE 802.16e standard.
BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 became official on Verizon Wireless late last night. You can download BB Messenger 5.0 in the App World but be patient because many users are experiencing the “connection time out” error due to the high demand. In other BlackBerry news, a rumor has come from Engadget that T-mobile and At&t will announce the BlackBerry Bold 9700 on October 21st. This information has not been confirmed, but it comes by way of one of Engadget’s most trusted tipsters.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Dell will be bringing and Android-powered device to the United States. After launching their mobile device in China, the retailer has decided that a partnership with At&t would be the appropriate plan and will release their smartphone on the carrier in 2010.
And last in the news this morning was CTIA 2009 where Verizon Wireless finally presented the Samsung Omnia II, complete with Windows Mobile 6.5 and a 3.7″ 480×800 WVGA resolution AMOLED display. The Omnia II also features the new TouchWiz 2.0 interface, 5MP camera with 720×480 resolution video recording, and an advanced multimedia player for music and a wide variety of video formats.
