Friday has come and gone so take a minute out of your morning before starting your College Football Saturday and enjoy your daily dose of the Morning Mobile Minute. First up this morning we have news from the FCC and At&t.
After At&t asked the FCC to investigate Google Voice last month it seems the ball is finally moving. The WSJ is reporting that Google said it is not required to follow the same rules and At&t and the carrier is trying to use regulations to block innovation.
The Verizon Wireless Device Blog is reporting that the BlackBerry Storm 2 will be released October 21st on Big Red. The website is also reporting that the device might not be called the Storm 2, but instead will keep its original name the Storm 9550/9520. This would make sense since Vodafone promotional materials all list the device as the Storm 9500 / 9520.
Fuze Mobility had a chance to unbox their At&t Tilt 2 this morning. They’ve posted a YouTube video along with a nice shot of the phone, box and accessories. Their initial impressions are all positive and we can expect a full review by Monday.
Rumors about a mysterious T-mobile Project Black have begun to surface. Apparently T-mobile is going to launch a mobile campaign that it hopes will steal away prospective customers from prepaid and unlimited services. The carrier is expected to launch a $50/month plan that comes with unlimited voice, data, texting and messaging. Project Black should launch this Holiday season to coincide with the releases of the Samsung Behold II, Nokia N900, BlackBerry 9700 and Motorola CLIQ.
The last bit of news coming in this morning is geared towards owners of the Palm Pre. It seems that webOS is back in the spotlight and this time we are happy to report 15 new paid applications/games are available. Along with the new apps, the webOS 1.2 update is getting rave reviews especially in terms of battery life. Under normal circumstances the Palm Pre battery would most certainly be dead by day’s end, but after updating to webOS 1.2 users are reporting 20 to 30% battery remaining. Now if they could only make a bigger keyboard for the Pre so we all could enjoy it…
