It’s Sunday morning and we’re back at it again to brush you up on anything you might of missed last night or early this morning in the world of mobile phones. Starting things off is news that Google will be bringing a Quick Search Box (QSB) to Android devices which will allow users to search their phone and the Internet directly from the home screen. QSB is the single search for phone content, apps, contacts, browser history, web content, stock quotes, weather and just about anything else you can think of on your Android handset.
A few great deals have started popping up for handsets. The first comes from Letstalk.com who is offering the At&t Pure (Diamond2) for free after a $179.99 instant discount on a 2-year service agreement. The second group of deals comes from Walmart who dropping the price of the myTouch 3G to $98.88, the G1 to $48.88, the Samsung Highlight to $18.88 and the BlackBerry 8120 to $28.88. As we get closer to the holiday season expect more handset deals to start rolling in.
Our favorite BlackBerry ninja, Salomondrin, is back at again and this time he has posted a YouTube video of his latest Storm2 coming to Verizon Wireless next month. He claims that this is the 8th version of the Storm2 he has received and that this 9550 is the best yet since it is running OS 5.0.0.287.
And last this morning was news of a new competitor for the CDMA-bound Samsung Intrepid, the LG GM550. The device was announced at CTIA on Friday at the Windows phone booth and could be the alternative you are looking for if you can live without the touchscreen on the Intrepid.
