It’s that time again to recap the top headlines from last night and early this morning with your Morning Mobile Minute.  This morning was packed with breaking news, a couple rumors and a possible game-changing move for T-mobile USA.  Without further adieu let’s get right into the mix.

Thanks to the release of GeoHotz’s Blackra1n and the iPhone Dev Team’s Pwnage Tool jailbreaking OS 3.1.2 it seemed as though unlocking Apple’s wonder toy was smooth sailing.  Apparently Apple has decided to make things a little more difficult by shipping new iPhones that are resistant to the 24kpwn exploit used by the Dev team and others to jailbreak the iPhone.

At&t has reached an agreement with the Justice Department and the Louisiana Attorney General to sell off assets in eight markets in Louisiana and Mississippi in order to proceed with its proposed $944 million acquisition of Centennial Communications.

Car security company Directed Electronics has unveiled a new iPhone application that lets customers control parts of their Viper SmartStart-enabled vehicle from their iPhone or iPod Touch. The app, called Viper SmartStart, operates like a virtual keyfob that can do things like lock and unlock your vehicle, open the boot and activate the alarm.

More details have surface surrounding the Verizon Wireless launch of the BlackBerry Storm 2.  This time we have a screen shot from the internal Work Development Program which clearly indicates a launch date of October 21.  This week employees should be introduced to the device and viewing a ‘What’s New’ video that explains what improvements have been made to warrant a second generation Storm.

T-mobile has decided to entice customers to switch to a BlackBerry by offering any BlackBerry smartphone for free on a 2-year service agreement.  In reality the discount is meant for BlackBerry developers and comes via a code that is actually a 9 month old and allows pretty much anyone who activates a new 2 yr contract with T-Mobile to get a free BlackBerry. Let’s hope this code still works when the T-mobile BlackBerry 9700 releases next month.

Some pictures have been leaked to BGR of the Verizon Wireless Motorola Sholes / Droid / Tao.  The device is still expected to launch on October 30th and leaked photos like these are only making a stronger case.  A second source told BGR that the ROM on the phone is moving at jackrabbit speeds with a new build out just about everyday. A decision on a final build will have to be made in the not too distant future if there is going to be a release this month.

And the last big piece of news coming in this morning is the HTC HD2 which could be arriving on T-mobile USA.  In an early prototype poster leaked to Tmonews, the HD2 is clearly geeked out in T-mobile magenta with the two big keywords: Snapdragon and 4.3″.  This could be huge news and be part of T-mobile’s Project Dark which should be unveiled any time now.
