The Morning Mobile Minute: Storm 2, Acer, Tilt II, MetroPCS, Project Dark

It’s that time again ladies and gentlemen and we are please to bring you today’s Morning Mobile Minute.  The BlackBerry Storm 2 is back in the headlines thanks to a brief appearance on the Verizon Wireless website.  The device was spotted on the site in full 360 degree action early this morning, but at the moment it looks like the carrier has pulled the plug on the page (check back soon).

iPhone haters have 7.4 million new reasons to hate Cupertino’s team after the Q4 2009 earnings report was released.  Profits went up by 47% and the $99 iPhone 3G helped Apple sell nearly 7.4 million units over the past 3 months resulting in better than expected financial results.

Acer has made their beTouch and neoTouch smartphone series official with a press release.  The four devices that make up the two lines are part of Acer’s 2009 Windows Mobile 6.5 repertoire and will range from $259 to $481 unlocked and unbranded.

The At&t Tilt II (Tilt 2) is now officially out of stock in both At&t retail locations and on Att.com according to FuzeMobility.  The device is not expected to restocked until October 24th at the earliest so congrats to all of you who were able to pickup the device.

MetroPCS and Samsung officially launched the carrier’s first Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone, the Samsung Code (SCH-i220).  We first saw this device on the MetroPCS Twitter page, but now some official press shots and specifications have surfaced.  No surprises here since we brought you this exclusive news back in September.

More details have surfaced surrounding the upcoming T-mobile Project Dark launch.  The first plan will be called ‘Even More’ and it will require a contract but you will receive a discounted handset.  The second plan, ‘Even More Plus’, will have no contract, lower rates, but no discount will be given on the handset although you will have an option pay in 20 month installments.

And last this morning is a rumor that At&t will begin selling the HTC Hero in early 2010.  We saw the GSM HTC Hero pass by the FCC database with At&t 3G bands not too long ago so an At&t launch was expected.  The source of the rumored release date comes to us via a PhoneArena tipster who works for At&t building firmwares for upcoming devices.  Hopefully the ‘early 2010′ prediction holds true, we know how bad At&t needs an Android device.
