Samsung Pixon12 vs Sony Ericsson Satio Camera Showdown

The battle for the top spot as the 12-megapixel camera phone champion is heating up now that we’ve been introduced to the Sony Ericsson Satio.  The previous champion, the Samsung Pixon12, which we showcased earlier this morning in a hands-on photo gallery is no slouch.  While both devices offer 12-megapixel cameras with Xenon flash, LED and autofocus there can be only one champion.  To help reach a decision we’ve turned to mobilemania who has put together an extensive photo gallery comparing shots between the two devices in a variety of lighting conditions.

The Pixon12 takes better photos in low lighting conditions when shooting in macro mode.  This effect is even more noticeable when trying to adjust ISO settings since the Satio lacks manual ISO capabilities.   However in better lighting conditions the Satio shines with more natural color and delivers a sharper overall image.  A limiting feature on the Pixon12 is that it only offers 4x zoom while the Satio features 16x.  The bottom line is that a clear winner is difficult and you will be trading off between more software options on the Pixon12 versus a better flash and greater zoom on the Satio.  Image sharpness varies between the two devices depending on lighting situations so the real winner depends on the environment you will be using the camera the most.
