The Windows Mobile powered Samsung Omnia II will be making an appearance on the Verizon Wireless network December 2nd for $199.99 after a $100 Mail-in Rebate on 2-year service agreements. The full touchscreen device features a 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA resolution display and a virtual QWERTY keyboard with Swype technology which allows users to input text faster and easier with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen. The phone will run Windows Mobile 6.5 on release and make use of the TouchWiz 2.0 user interface to keep Microsoft’s platform in the background as much as possible. Opera 9.5 will deliver the full HTML web browsing like other WM 6.5 devices on the market and the Omnia II will support all the major social networking platforms such as YouTube, FaceBook and MySpace. On the back of the device is a 5.0-megapixel camera with flash, autofocus and a camcorder and decoder with DNSe technology and on-device editing capabilities. WiFi, Divx/Xvid support, 8GB internet memory with up to 16GB microSD card support and Bluetooth round out the feature list.
The Samsung Omnia II will be available online at www.verizonwireless.com and in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores beginning Dec. 2 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted.
