Verizon’s second Android handset, the Droid Eris by HTC, will be getting an OS update in early 2010.  Along with the Android OS update, the device will also gain Google Navigation and if things pan out the way we think, some serious performance improvements.  At the moment we are not sure which version of Android (1.6, 2.0 or 2.1) but the mention of Google Navigation also being included leads us to believe that it might just be Android 1.6.   If the update was for Android 2.0 or 2.1 we wouldn’t expect a separate mention of Google Navigation since the software is native to the builds.  We’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best (Android 2.0 or greater).
