In my weekly visit to my favorite big box retailer, Fry’s Electronics, I decided to take a look at their current smartphone lineup. To my surprise Fry’s was no longer offering phones from T-mobile or Sprint and instead kept At&t and added Verizon Wireless. Both the Motorola Droid and Droid Eris by HTC caught my eye with their usual price points of $199.99 and $99.99 respectively, but one device really stood out, the At&t BlackBerry Bold 9700. When I looked at the pricing for the Bold 9700 I was very confused when I saw the tag read $299.99 No Contract. Was I imagining that Fry’s was selling the Bold 9700 sans contract for a mere $299.99? After doing a few quick searches on Google I realized that I was not the first to discover the great price and infact At&t retail stores were selling the Bold 9700 for $349.99. If you happen to live near a Fry’s Electronics I would recommended heading out this week and seeing if you can pickup a unit before they sell out because $299.99 is a bargain for RIM’s latest flagship device. Heck you could even buy an extra unit to unlock and sell on eBay if you were looking to turn a profit.
