Ladies and Gentlemen the Morning Mobile Minute is back again. After receiving quite a few emails asking about the daily post I decided that it was in the best interest of the site to bring the Mobile Minute back. Without further adieu let’s get right into today’s breaking news for December 17, 2009.
Starting things off this morning is a great photo gallery of pictures taken from the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The photos were featured over on Nokia Conversations as part of their Nokia world tour of Flickr. With only a 3.2-megapixel camera I’d have to say these are some very impressive shots, take a look here.
RIM has announced the BlackBerry Curve 8520 is now available from all MTS shops in Russia. The smartphone is priced at 12,500 rubles and will offered with BES or BIS accounts. To sweeten the deal MTS provides maintenance and 12 months of warranty service for BlackBerry smartphones.
Orange has announced the launch of its online interactive map, designed to showcase the findings from its Connected Britain research and reveal how universal access to fast and reliable mobile and fixed broadband could transform the UK. www.orange.co.uk/connectedbritain shows which regions and cities could see their populations explode – or shrink – in the future, as the government’s Digital Britain report becomes a reality and more people are able to choose where they live and work.
Sprint issued a press release explaining why you don’t need 12 days of Chritsmas when you are using the Now Network. The list is amusing and focuses on how Sprint services can help get things done and effectively make your holiday season easier. Check out the list here.
GSM World has just announced that Duran Duran will be headlining the GSMA’s Mobile World Congress Awards Party on February 16, 2010 in Barcelona, Spain. The afternoon awards presentation is open to all Mobile World Congress conference delegates, award nominees and all accredited press attending the event. Deutsche Telekom has announce that Christopher Schläffer will be leaving the company on March 31, 2010 after nearly twelve years of service. Most recently he was the Chief Product & Innovation Officer and responsible for the Group’s product portfolio and operational realization of strategic areas of innovation such as IPTV, mobile Internet and digital services. He was also in charge of research and development within the Group.
Last up this morning is news from Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) who announced the adoption of Bluetooth Low Energy Wireless Technology. The low energy version of Bluetooth brings to life entirely new markets for wireless devices requiring low cost, low, latency, low duty cycle, low data rate and low power consumption.
