According to BBC News, the Vodafone UK iPhone Release Date is January 14, 2010.  After promising the released the iPhone for the holiday season (and clearly failing to do so) Vodafone UK decided the next best thing would be announcing a formal release date along with pricing details.  With a £30 ($48) per month plan and 2-year contract the 32GB iPhone 3GS will be £239 ($386).  That £30 ($48) per month plan gets you 1GB of data, unlimited WiFi and surprisingly, the ability to use your iPhone as Modem (tethering).  However not all is well, the Phone as Modem (PAM) usage will not be covered by your 1GB allowance and will cost £5 ($8) for each 500MB downloaded.  I’m all for the option to do PAM, but the additional cost seems a bit outrageous given the upfront cost of the device and cost for data.  The last tidbit of news that BBC News has managed to uncover is that Vodafone UK has actually been preparing their network for the increased data strain of the iPhone for over a year.  Now let’s see if they manage to do a better job than At&t here in the US.
