At&t, a latecomer to the Android bandwagon, has just announced their Android game plan for 2010. According to the Press Release issued this morning the wireless carrier plans to launch five new devices from Dell, HTC and Motorola based on the Android platform in 2010. All five devices will be released during the first half of the year and include a Motorola smartphone, powered by MOTOBLUR, with a unique form factor and an At&t exclusive, a Dell smartphone, based on the Android platform and an At&t exclusive, and a HTC smartphone, based on the Android platform and an At&t exclusive. To receive alerts on when these five devices will be released, At&t has setup an Android website at www.att.com/android. It looks like coming last to the Android party might be paying off for At&t, the next big news we’re waiting for is whether or not Apple and At&t have inked a deal to continue the iPhone exclusivity.

Also included in the Press Release were details on At&t’s Developer Program which it hopes to take to the next level with a standardized 70/30 split for 3rd party developers.  At&t also outlined the Sandbox, a virtual environment for developers to test and evaluate applications which will be available in 2Q 2010 and the new Developer Dashboard, a tool that will let developers track the status of their app once submitted to At&t.  The bottom line is that At&t is focused on Apps and they have finally embraced Android.  Now if I could only get a few bars of reception at home with At&t service I’d be happy camper.

I’m in a bit of dilema, I’ve had my iphone 3G for the last couple of years and it’s been good. It is my understanding that Apple has a new update due out called OS 4 and it’s supposed to be adding some new features to the iphone. The problem is that I bought Verizon’s new HTC Incredible the HTC Incredible and it is an incredible phone, way better than the iphone, BUT I’m hearing that Apple is going to be coming out with a completely new iphone altogether, and it’s supposed to be really nice but no one has any ideas as to when and Apple isn’t saying a thing. Should I keep my HTC Incredible, that I have a month to test and give back if I do not want to keep it, or should I give it back, keep my current iphone and wait for the release for the new iPhone- tough to decide.
