HTC launched a new version of HTC Sense while showcasing two new flagship devices, the HTC Desire HD and Desire Z in Asia. The new version of HTC Sense changes how we capture, create, share and access multimedia content, use location-based services and view e-book content.
The new version of Sense includes DLNA support, allowing users to share videos directly to YouTube or to their TV. A new camera application brings a variety of new camera effects, including the ability to swap lenses and add filters on the fly. The next big change in HTC Sense is HTC Locations, a new differentiated online mapping experience which delivers on-demand mapping without download delays or incurring mobile roaming charges. The last major change in HTC Sense is HTC Fast Boot, a feature which shortens the power-up sequence to just 10 seconds. The next time you turn off your phone on a flight, you’ll be ready to check your email in a fraction of the time it usually took to power on your phone. Now onto the two new flagship phones, the HTC Desire HD and Desire Z.
The HTC Desire HD features the same 4.3-inch full-touchscreen display seen on the HTC EVO sold on Sprint in the US. The Desire HD also adds Dolby Mobile and SRS virtual sound and will be the first devices powered by the new 1GHz Qualcomm 8255 Snapdragon processor. The Desire HD also features an 8-megapixel camera with dual-flash and 720P HD video recording.
The HTC Desire Z features a unique “pop hinge” that opens to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard without the problems of previous HTC products that made pressing keys on the top row difficult. The Desire Z’s keyboard also features a variety of shortcuts for instant access to commons functions without needing to navigate the phone’s menu. HTC Desire Z also includes 720p HD video recording and a 5-megapixel camera with automatic flash. It is the first phone to utilize the new 800MHz Qualcomm 7230 processor for improved performance and battery life.
The new HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z will be available through mobile operators and retailers across major Asian markets from November 2010. The HTC Desire HD will be available at all Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Mobile retail stores and authorised dealers, with the HTC Desire Z available through Far EasTone outlets. The recommended retail prices for the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z are NTD20,900 and NTD18,900 respectively.
