By now you’ve seen or at least heard that the Nokia’s E7 and C6-01 both use ClearBlack display technology. To help get a better understanding of ClearBlack technology, Nokia Conversations has put together a formal write up and supporting pictures to help explain. Here’s your Cliff’s Notes version of their guide:
ClearBlack is similar to the effect produced by wearing a pair of polarized sunglasses, it reduces the reflection when using a phone in direct sunlight. It also improves the vividness of the colors because of the higher contrast and even improves the viewing-angle of the screen. The end result is that the colors are more accurate, the blacks are black and the phone is viewable in nearly every environment. The photo above shows a Nokia C6-01 with ClearBlack display on the left and an early prototype of the same device without it- the results speak for themselves.
