Loopt for the BlackBerry launches

by Nick Marshall | June 14th, 2008 | 12:21 pm

While iPhone users will need to wait until July 11th when the App Store launches and iPhone 3G is released, BlackBerry users can join in the ‘Loopt’ fun today.  While CEO Sam Altman described Loopt for the iPhone as the company’s best ever, he is not going to overlook the fact that many consumers prefer the BlackBerry as their smartphone of choice.  With the upcoming BlackBerry Bold launching on At&t’s network and the need for a physical keyboard for many users, Loopt has not overlooked the importance of the BlackBerry platform.

Loopt has released their software for the BlackBerry and it is available to download today.  As with the iPhone, Loopt’s software is free of charge and it is capable of working on a variety of networks: Sprint, Alltel, T-mobile, and At&t.  If you are not using a BlackBerry or the iPhone, Loopt is available for phones from Motorola, Samsung, Sanyo, LG and even Boost Mobile devices.  Hit the link below to download Loopt for your BlackBerry.

Military grade handsets have their own position in the mobile market, but Boost Mobile’s Motorola i335 is truly setting an example of durability.  In a recently released video, the limits of stress are placed on the i335 with 20 foot drops, kicks and just about every possible situation you could find damaging your phone.  While we are not big fans of the iDEN network and never-ending chirps, we can always appreciate a cell phone achievement.

Boost Mobile Unlimited Calling Hawaii

boost mobile unlimited plansFor $35 USD you can now have Unlimited Calling in Hawaii.  The announcement was made today by Boost Mobile that they have added the calling plan/feature to Hawaii in an effort to expand the popular “Where You At?” slogan.  It will be interesting to see how many Boost Mobile subscribers get excited about this feature, but with Nextel’s popularity in Hawaii we are confident that Boost Mobile should see an influx of subscribers not wanting contracts and on a tight budget.
