Sir%20Howard%20Stringer%20Sony%20keynote Sony Las Vegas Product Announcements 

This week Sony is hosting an open house in Las Vegas.  There have been many announcements made for products and product lines that will be hitting the market in the coming months.  In an effort to save you time here is a quick summary of the big news:

  • New standalone players the BDP-S350 and the BDP-S550.  New features include Blu-ray Profile 2.0 compliance and DTS-HD Master Audio support.
  • New Sony Vaio Laptops will come in new patterns, colors, and customized keyboard fonts.
  • Sony’s Bravia lineup will focus on Sony’s proprietary S-AIR wireless technology from its all-in-one home theater systems
  • Sony has announced the pricing and availability of their unique headphones, the PFR-V1.  Expensive $500.
  • The Cyber-shot DSC-H50 will replace the H9 at a lower price.  You can expect the megapixels to continue to rise and the prices to fall for all of Sony’s Cyber-shot lineup in 2008.

The S-Air wireless technology Sony has introduced get wireless audio up and running without “IP addresses, WEP keys and pin codes.”  This is what Sony is currently claiming about the technology and you can expect to hear more news about the actual mechanics and real world testing in the coming weeks.
