at&t blackberry bold

RIM CEO, Mike Lazaridis, has confirmed speculation shared by most of the mobile community, the At&t BlackBerry Bold is officially delayed.  With the BlackBerry Bold already on sale is Europe and Canada, the U.S. is looking to be one of the last countries to launch the device.  The Bold is currently undergoing the certification process in At&t which tests all new handsets to make sure they work well on its network.

“There’s great scrutiny, as you might know, on that network and a certain device. So I guess everyone wants to be sure on every last test,” Lazaridis told The Associated Press.

AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel would not confirm that the Bold was still in testing and said only that it would come out this year.  To add a bit of icing on the cake, RIM’s U.S. shares fell $1.04, 1.7 percent, to close at $60.96 on Friday.  It suddenly looks like the Verizon Wireless could be taking the BlackBerry world by Storm, but we’ll continue to remain optimistic on the At&t front.  Hopefully this is all just a marketing ploy that will result in a surprise release of the At&t BlackBerry Bold on mid-October like we originally predicted.
