Sprint Nextel has just announced plans to launch its first dual-mode modem that would work on both the high-speed WiMax network Clearwire Corp is building and on Sprint’s existing mobile network (EVDO).  This dual-mode CDMA/WiMax modem will be available for $149.99 after $50 Mail-in Rebate on 2-year service agreements, but at the moment Sprint WiMax is basically limited to Baltimore so don’t get those credit cards ready just yet.  Clearwire is expected to expand the WiMax network around the country and expects to launch the service in Portland, Oregon in early January.
