Palm Pre set for Oct 14 release date in Spain

Palm and Telefonica have made their plans official to launch the GSM Palm Pre on October 14 in Spain.  It only makes sense that Spain’s largest mobile carrier (over 23 million customers) would be the launching pad of choice for the Pre assault on Western Europe.  The GSM Palm Pre features a HVGA touchscreen display, Palm Synergy, sliding QWERTY keyboard, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3MP camera with flash, and 8GB of internal memory.

In other Palm Pre release date news, Telefonica will also launch the Palm Pre via O2 in the UK (on October 16), Ireland and Germany.  If you are still wondering whether the GSM Palm Pre matches up to the CDMA counterpart, three quality reviews have already been posted by Slashgear, Vowe and the::unwired.  All three reviews confirm that the GSM Pre ships with webOS 1.1.3 and that the device performs about the same despite the older OS.
