According to the latest Internet rumors, T-mobile USA will be launching the Samsung T919 / Tocco / Roxy. While the device currently resides in Europe, TmoNews is confident that we will soon see this iPhone 3G competitor stateside. The good news is that it packs superior optics and support for T-mobile USA’s 3G data network which is just 6 weeks away from completing its nationwide launch (in select cities). The Samsung T919 / Tocco / Roxy pack a 5.0 megapixel camera, GPS with voice command, streaming video, 1700MHz AWS spectrum 3G data connectivity and supports up to 16GB of memory via microSD slot. The possible additions to the T919 for T-mobile USA include Wi-Fi and lack of a front-facing camera for video calls.
Unfortunately the T919 does not run Windows Mobile, Symbian or any other Smartphone OS. Instead you will be left to work with a proprietary build similar to the Samsung Instinct. For this reason alone, the T919 is more of an Instinct version 2.0 than an iPhone clone, but we are sure T-mobile USA plans on stealing some potential iPhone 3G buyers with this 5 megapixel shooter.
