A HTC Touch Pro firmware update has just been approved by Verizon Wireless according to PhoneNews. An update had been promised from Verizon last year which would unlock GPS on the device so that Google Maps and Windows Live Search would be functional as an alternative to the pricey VZ navigator service. Also included in the update is Visual Voicemail support, but as usual that will cost you an additional $3 per month. We’ve also heard that EVRC-B codec support has been added to the update to improve call handling. The update has not officially been released by HTC or Verizon so we recommend waiting on updating your handset. If you have no fear of updating your Touch Pro then by all means hop on over to PhoneNews and pickup the update now.
